About EZ Learn

Teaching isn’t about the subject. It’s about the kid.

Since 2001 EZ Learn has aimed to make commercial subjects easy, relevant and fun for both students and teachers. A winning formula combines lessons in small groups and interesting, relevant material with exam revision throughout the year. Barbara, Linda and Natacha’s vast experience, passion and creativity ensure high-quality teaching. Students are individually monitored and guided, with classes designed around what students need most at that time.

Barbara Williamson founded the business based on the dream of providing lessons and resources that are easy and interesting to use. The guides were originally written based on Barbaras many years of teaching and examining experience - both in the classroom and privately - of what works for students. Many students return to use these guides year after year, as they enjoy working through them.

Barbara experimented with tech in teaching as far back as 2010, creating interactive self-marking tests, video lessons for flip-teaching, and teaching students via Skype when they were unable to attend lessons in person. When Covid changed the face of education in 2020, going online was nothing new. Instead, EZ Learn was able to embrace the multitude of new tools that became available, celebrating what felt like a renaissance in education.

EZ Learn teachers delight in the fact that every kid is different. Alongside the emphasis on quality teaching and learning, Barbara and her team are focused on working to develop each student’s strengths in a flexible learning environment that adapts to their different needs. Today, the business has grown to include more than 75 registered students as a result of great reviews and positive word-of-mouth.

An EZ history ...

Having taught Accounting and Business Economics (now Business Studies) for a number of years, both in the classroom and privately, I soon realised that there was a gaping need for material that learners would find easy and fun to work with. As a result, EZ Learn Books was born in 2001, with the creation of A+ Accounting study guides aimed at making the basic concepts easy to learn, including basic notes, examples and revision tests. EZ Business Economics Grade 12 was the next to be introduced, as I realised that pupils and teachers found the EZ Learn style easy to work with, and of course Business Economics guides for grades 10 and 11 soon followed. With the advent of the new, revised curriculum, text books for Economic & Management Sciences were soon launched as well.

It soon became apparent that the Accounting study guides needed to be upgraded to text books, and these were revamped and expanded into the popular EZ Learn guides they are today, characterised by fun activities, explanations that are easy to understand, relevant case studies and articles, worked examples, exercises covering a variety of skills and ranging from easy to challenging, and of course tests and exams for revision purposes.

In 2004 permission was obtained from both the Department of Education and the Independent Examinations Board to republish past examination papers, and the EZ Revision guides were born. More than just a collation of exam papers, these include detailed study plans, crash course or summary notes, exam questions divided into the different sections covered, and complete answers with helpful hints. This dynamic combination has proved incredibly popular with students and teachers alike.

The Fun EMS guides were launched in 2012 for the new CAPS requirements, and were very well received. Combined with access to free additional resources via Google Classrooms, EZ Learn continues to keep up to date with changes in the online learning environment. Self-marking Excel tests and quizzes, PowerPoint presentation slides and electronic solutions all contribute to a better teaching and learning experience.

EZ Learn's YouTube channel has since added another dimension to the EZ teaching solution, with QR codes in the guides and links in the Classrooms providing direct access to relevant videos on different topics.

In 2017 I ventured into discovering the Cambridge curriculum, and have thoroughly enjoyed the juxtaposition of this and the IEB curriculum to which I was used to. Both have their strengths, and each add a different dimension to commercial subjects. As I gained confidence teaching students IGCSE, AS and A Level, I started developing notes and arranging resource material in Google Classrooms. These are now being developed further, and I hope to launch a set of EZ guides for Cambridge in the near future.

2020 brought an entirely new perspective to the sphere of education. Luckily, I had already dabbled in flip-teaching and a variety of online teaching tools since 2010, and so EZ Learn was well placed to assist teachers with ideas of how to cope with the new challenges faced, and to introduce the new EZ Classrooms and Zoom lessons for students.

Although a small business, EZ Learn Books seems to have found a niche in the market, and I thank everyone concerned for their loyal support and positive feedback. EZ Learn remains committed to providing materials that are current, fun, and easy to use, as well as additional support in the form additional resources and personal assistance and advice to any teacher or pupil in need.
